Manchester United foundation

We are delighted to have a partnership with Manchester United Foundation, who we have been working with since 2016.

Our School Partnership Officer Mr Dugdale is based at Manchester Academy and he helps develop our students' interpersonal skills, as well as supporting them with their curricular subjects. He is also involved with organising educational trips for our students and other opportunities for them, both inside and outside school.

The Foundation delivers programmes and activities that include:

Leadership, Mentoring, Targeted Intervention & Personal Development  -  Specific students from Years 7 and 8 are mentored and supported, to improve attitudes to learning (ATL) and self-esteem, as well as personal development and leadership skills.

Enrichment & Extra-curricular - MUF provides girls-only provision through classroom interventions and extra-curricular clubs with a long-term vision to encourage participants onto school teams and clubs in the local community. Mr Dugdale also provides and supports with structured additional activities such as enrichment and extra-curricular school clubs.

Transition - MUF works with the MA Transition Team and provides transition support for students from Year 6 to Year 7 from selected primary schools. Mr Dugdale also supports Manchester Academy with transition events at school and primary school Open Days/events.

Competitions - We receive donations such as MU training kits and equipment to give to students who have made excellent progress. Competitions are available for ALL students to take part in, with prizes including match tickets.

Careers & Pathways - MUF delivers enrichment and career awareness opportunities for students through their Employability and Skills Team. This involves off-site provision and trips as well as offering guest speakers and additional support.

Qualifications & Skills - The Foundation’s Education and Employability programmes aim to equip students with the necessary skills, qualifications, and experiences to progress onto higher-level education, an apprenticeship or employment.
