2011 Trip to Stuttgart

Published on 22 April 2011

Year 9 and Year 10 students took part in a German exchange project with Korntal Gymnasium in Stuttgart this year. The project was titled Come Dine with Me where English students were able to learn about German foods, cook them and eat them.

Manchester Academy students were given the opportunity to speak German at all times and stayed with host families for the duration of the trip.

When researching German foods, pupils were given the opportunity to visit markets and try local produce. This involved visiting the picturesque town of Tübingen as well as Stuttgart city centre.

On the third day of our stay pupils exchanged their recipes and Manchester Academy students were asked to make 5 dishes they had researched. This included Maultaschen, Kartoffel Salat, Spätzle, Wurst Salat und Monkuchen.

Manchester Academy students look forward to hosting the reciprocal visit here in Manchester which will take place in June, 2011.
