The first half of the concert consisted of a fantastic talent showcase with each school contributing with their own act.
Manchester Academy’s soul band performed a stunning rendition on Alex Clare’s ‘Too Close’.
After a short interval, the audience were treated to ‘Every Purpose Under the Heaven’, a 45 minute oratorio composed and conducted by Howard Goodall.
This was the largest ever performance of the oratorio commissioned as a gift to United Learning from Sir Ewan and Lady Harper, to mark the 400th anniversary of the King James Bible.
