Bletchley Park and the Enigma Machine

Published on 25 May 2017

Thursday 18th May saw a visitor from Bletchley Park in school, talking to selected students in Years 7, 8 and 9, plus the Robotics Club about the Enigma machine.

This is a remarkable piece of engineering developed and used in the early to mid-20th century to protect commercial, diplomatic and military communications. During World War Two, Britain's codebreakers led by the brilliant mathematician, Alan Turing used it to decipher the military codes used by Germany and its allies

Our guest, Natasha, met with three classes and talked to them about the work Bletchley Park has done in the past and is doing today. The students were also allowed to view the famous Enigma machine.
