Academy Students Celebrate Children's Mental Health Awareness Week
Happy, confident students make the best learners! That’s why the Academy is proud to take part in Children’s Mental Health Awareness Week, a nationwide initiative focused on helping young people understand their emotions, develop resilience, and grow into the best versions of themselves.
This year’s theme is, ‘Know Yourself, Grow Yourself,’ encouraging students to explore their strengths, recognise their emotions, and discover ways to improve their wellbeing.
Throughout the week, the school was buzzing with meaningful conversations, engaging activities, and plenty of positive energy!
A Whole-School Effort
It’s important for students to feel supported both inside and outside the classroom. With the help of Place2Be, a leading children’s mental health charity, teachers organised a fantastic week full of encouraging self-discovery and personal growth.
Every day, students took part in form-time activities and inspiring assemblies.
They discussed topics like managing stress, building self-confidence, and setting personal goals.
Our Top Tips for Good Mental Health
· Get Closer to Nature – We all live with worries and fears that can make us feel stressed. Nature can have a calming effect on us
· Get More from your Sleep – Adults need between 7 and 9 hours' sleep a night, including enough dreaming and deeper sleep
· Keep Moving – Our bodies and minds are connected, so looking after ourselves physically also helps us prevent problems with our mental health
· Eat Healthy – Food and drink affect our bodies, brains and mood. A balanced diet with lots of vegetables and fruit is essential for good physical and mental health
Looking After Each Other
One of the most important messages from the week is that no one is alone. We encouraged students to check in on their friends, support each other, and reach out to staff if they ever need help! The Academy is proud to have a strong pastoral support team, including trained staff who are always available for a chat.
Manchester Academy’s Mental Health Lead, Mrs Essafi said: “It’s been an inspiring week! Students have approached the activities and discussions with kindness and maturity. Children’s Mental Health Awareness Week may be over, but we’re excited to keep the conversation going and stay committed to supporting student wellbeing year-round!”
