We were proud to celebrate our wonderful culture and diversity at our MACFEST event on Friday!
Students looked amazing in their traditional clothes and we were blown away by all the fantastic colourful clothes seen around school, worn by our students and staff alike – reflecting the huge variety of countries we proudly represent.
Our ESOL students were busy taking part in environmental activities in the school hall to support our ‘Plastic Free Day’ as part of MACFEST, where they shared ideas on how to reduce plastic waste. Brilliant work everyone!
Our Catering Team marked the occasion with a special menu, including shakshuka-egg curry, Moroccan vegetable and chicken tagine, chicken shawarma, jerk spiced chicken wings, jollof rice, curried broccoli, popcake with white chocolate coconut and sweet coconut sponge. It smelt and tasted delicious!
After school, we threw open our doors to the public with free entertainment and a variety of stalls for everyone to enjoy. It was brilliant to welcome so many of our families and the local community, who browsed round the many stalls including amigurumi crochet dolls, hand painted mirrors, candles, perfumes, pastries and desserts, resin crafts, accessories, soaps, wall art, henna, homeware and face painting.
The event was organised by our Maths and Arabic teacher Mrs Anani.
She said: “It was a great pleasure to celebrate our fantastic culture and diversity for the second year, with a plastic-free focus this time. We were pleased to see so many people enjoying the event after school, and so many of our students celebrating their countries and culture.”
A big thanks to everyone who brought in food donations to support families in Manchester in food poverty. We dropped it all off at the Compassion Food Bank. It was much appreciated and thanks to everyone for their excellent efforts!
