MANCHESTER ACADEMY CELEBRATES ANOTHER WIN AT NORTH-WEST EDUCATE AWARDS 2023

WE’RE HONOURED TO BE RECOGNISED FOR THE COMMUNICATIONS AWARD

We’re very proud to be crowned winners for the Communications Award in a glittering ceremony at Liverpool Cathedral on Friday night.

We were among 75 entries from nearly 60 schools and colleges from across the north west who made the prestigious shortlist for the 2023 Educate Awards.

We were represented on the night by our Principal Mr Eldon, Assistant Vice Principal Mrs Trivedi, Transition Lead Mrs Cassidy, Manchester United Foundation Coach Mr Dugdale, Marketing and Communications Officer Miss Pinder and Marketing and Communications Cluster Manager Mr Prince.

Receiving the award on the red carpet, Mr Eldon said it was just incredible and a huge tribute to all our staff who work so hard to include clear and concise communications to our families and students, particularly breaking down the language barriers.

“Three awards in 2023 - so proud and finishes a brilliant week for Moss Side. We need a new trophy cabinet!” Mr Eldon said.

The North West Educate Awards, in partnership with ASL Group and Ricoh, is the largest education awards of its kind. The finest schools, colleges, leadership teams, teachers and support staff across Merseyside, Cheshire, Lancashire and Greater Manchester came together to celebrate their achievements at the annual event.

This latest award completes a hattrick of awards we have achieved this year – our Principal Mr Eldon won the Secondary School Leadership Award in the Education Business Awards in June, and our Family Liaison Officer won for his Outstanding Contribution to Pastoral Care at the national NAPCE Awards in September.

For our latest Communications Award we were recognised for our innovative and proactive approach to communications using the full spectrum of media channels available, from social media and our school mobile app to our comprehensive school website and our regular parental newsletters and termly newsletters which are distributed to our feeder primary schools and the wider community.

We were also praised for tailoring each message to the needs of its audience – whether that’s snappy engaging videos or interesting photos or translated messages which cater to our large EAL demographic.

Our staff pull out all the stops to make sure that both students and their families have all the information they need in school.

Our communications are very proactive to make sure our important messages home to Parents/Carers are also translated into our main three languages of Arabic, Somali and Urdu – three languages that are prevalent among the families of our student population - and we have continued this approach with key sections of our website and prospectus - to support our wider communication strategy and ensure that any language barriers are overcome.

This strategy has benefited the school in terms of student intake – our admissions have increased by more than 350 over the past five years.
