Making the Most of British Science Week with an Electrifying Range of Activities and Opportunities
British Science Week is an annual event that aims to celebrate the world of science and technology. The week-long event creates a formula for success, offering our students an opportunity to engage with various scientific topics through hands-on activities, workshops, and presentations.
Lunchtime Experiments
Hosted by the dynamic duo, Mr Axenderrie and Mr Randell. Each break time saw a unique demonstration for students to engage with. From elephants’ toothpaste to iodine clocks and reversable blue bottles, the students’ curiosity never failed to excite!
After School Antics
Thanks to the hard work from our amazing Science Department at Manchester Academy, a week of after school sessions also took place each day. Students could experiment with practical skills whilst taking part in activities such as:
- · Making Nocturnals
- · Measuring and building sand timers
- · Working with geological timescales
A Memorable Week for All
Head of Science, Mrs Evans said: “The aim of this week is to encourage curiosity, critical thinking, and creativity among young adults, inspiring them to pursue careers in STEM. The students really enjoyed exploring this fantastic subject in more detail. I’d like to thank the Science Department for helping me make this year's #BritishScienceWeek a memorable one."
