Ofsted's Chief Inspector Amanda Spielman meets staff and students at Manchester Academy
Ofsted’s chief inspector spent a morning touring our school and meeting students and staff as part of her visit to Manchester.
HMCI Amanda Spielman was visiting Manchester Academy after the school’s recent Ofsted Inspection, during which we received a ‘Good’ rating – you can read the full report here.
After a walkaround with our Principal Mr Eldon and our Student Presidents, the Chief Inspector – accompanied by another of Ofsted’s senior inspectors for the north of England – met with our Literacy Leads and prefect team before discussing with our own senior leadership team how they’ve gone about transforming the curriculum at Manchester Academy over the past few years.
Mrs Spielman spent a large proportion of her visit hearing directly from our students, discussing everything from how the school supported them through lockdown to their hopes and ambitions for the future.
Mr Eldon said: “It’s been an absolute honour to host Mrs Spielman to showcase the relentless drive and passion of our staff and students to ensure the young people of Moss Side, Rusholme and the surrounding areas receive the best education and opportunities for the future.
“The last few months in particular have been unforgettable in seeing this hard work recognised by Ofsted, but we’re not putting our feet up and will now be striving towards Outstanding as we continue to make Manchester magic."
