Hallé, Gamelan Partnership

Published on 24 April 2012

Manchester Academy’s Music Department celebrated music from around the world during the month of March.

All students during music lessons learned about Gamelan music, African music and British and American popular music. 80 Year 7 and 8 students went to a concert at the Bridgewater Hall and over 150 students participated in Gamelan workshops with the Hallé teachers.

It gave our students an opportunity to put their learning into context by playing authentic Indonesian instruments and traditional pieces of music.

It was a fantastic few days with students enjoying the opportunity to learn outside of the classroom.
