Now our senior GCSE students have reached the business end of their course, we have seen last term what good musicians they have become.

Our Year 11′s have been working furiously on their performances and have impressed us all hugely with their maturity, professionalism and commitment in getting themselves prepared to perform. I’m sure you’ll agree how well they have all done. It was wonderful having so much beautiful music around the department while they practiced at every available opportunity.

Our Year 10 BTEC group had a bit of a break from the practical work while they got their teeth into the music industry and wrote their profiles of different jobs in the music industry. Special mention to Megan for her in-depth look into the work of rappers, Deon’s description of the role media plays, Lobe’s excellent account of why a producer is so important, and Marsha’s profile of the life of a backing singer.

They still managed to find time to perform this number as a whole class, where we can see them all contributing their own part within an ensemble. This featured Paul’s work running the rehearsal which was a great step in him developing his leadership skills. Great work from the singers here as well. It is very good work to keep time and hold the melody throughout.
