British Science Week is an annual event that aims to celebrate the world of science and technology. The week-long event creates a formula for success, offering our students an opportunity to engage with various scientific topics through hands-on activities, workshops, and presentations.
Hosted by the dynamic duo, Mr Axenderrie and Mr Randell, each break time saw a unique demonstration for students to engage with. From elephants’ toothpaste to iodine clocks and reversable blue bottles, the students’ curiosity never failed to excite!
A week of after school sessions also took place each day, thanks to the hard work from our amazing Science Department at Manchester Academy. Students could experiment with practical skills whilst measuring and building Sand Timers, making Nocturnals, and working with Geological Timescales.
Mrs Evans, our school's Head of Science, said: “The aim of this week is to encourage curiosity, critical thinking, and creativity among young adults, inspiring them to pursue careers in science. Everyone involved really enjoyed exploring this fantastic subject in more detail, and I would like to thank our staff for pulling out all the stops to make this year's BSW a memorable one."
