Manchester Academy Transition Challenges

Published on 28 June 2013

The Enabling Employability team ran a Transition Challenge for our partner primary schools’ Year 6 pupils. The challenge took place at Manchester Academy, where the pupils were able to get a glimpse of life as a high school student.

The challenge began with the ‘Logo Game’, where students had to identify when shown well known logos. All the primary pupils excelled at this.

Next, the students were shown a number of shopping bags from a variety of well known shops. They discussed how effective the colour of the bag was, how clear the shop name was and what impression the bag left on them. Their challenge then was to create a brand, a logo and design their own shopping bag.

Working in small teams, all the pupils from Rolls Crescent Primary School created fantastic ideas and designs, which they pitched to their teachers and Manchester Academy staff. They took their prototypes back to their school with them to turn them into classroom and corridor displays!
