Our new Year 7 students have had a fantastic first day at Manchester Academy.
We welcomed them into school this morning, and our staff are excited about making Manchester Magic together!
They received a warm welcome from our Principal Mr Eldon during their first assembly in the Main Hall.
"We're ready, we're excited and we will be your champions," Mr Eldon said.
Here they met other key members of staff, including Vice Principal Mrs McMullen, Assistant Vice Principal Mr Hurst and Year 7 Director Mr Clarke, who introduced themselves and reassured students about our new COVID-19 safety measures and how to find their way around school.
Mr Clarke praised our 'Lockdown Legends' who did an amazing effort completing many of our Transition Challenges over the lockdown period.
"You've been through a difficult time during lockdown but it has not phased you in any way. You've got an exciting time ahead of you at Manchester Academy.
"We've got a newly refurbished building, amazing teachers, new subjects and enrichment clubs to discover," Mr Clarke said.
He also told our Year 7 students they would find out more in their classrooms about their timetable, our rewards system, Award Winning Fiction Programme, Q&A cards, ATL standards, goal setting and the school day.
They spent the rest of the day getting settled in their classrooms and began their first lessons this afternoon.
We're looking forward to welcoming everyone back again tomorrow, as well as the rest of our students so we can make Manchester Magic together!
