Manchester Reading Miles Passport

Published on 02 October 2012

Every student in Year 7, Year 8 and Year 9 (KS3) has been given a ‘Manchester Reading Miles Passport.’ This is to encourage them to read for pleasure.

On the passport, there are different landmarks from around Manchester, for students to read toward. From now until Thursday, 25th October, students have to read to any adult (that can be any member of staff in the academy, or else their parent, carer, elder siblings and so on) for a minimum of 10 minutes in order to gain a signature.

There are 36 miles worth of signatures to collect. Students who complete their passports by the end of half term, will be entered into a prize draw, for the chance to visit a destination on their reading passport.

The results of this will be announced on the Family Literacy Day, which we will be holding on Wednesday, 21st November, 2012.
