Manchester University Stock Market Challenge

Published on 09 July 2012

On Tuesday, 26th June, a group of Year 9 and Year 10 Manchester Academy students took part in the Stock Market Challenge and Investment Challenge competitions at Manchester Business School (University of Manchester).

They were competing against around 30 other schools, many of whom were local to the area and stood out as being some of the most professional, mature and hard-working. Our students were split into two teams and we are delighted to announce that they took the first AND second places!

The winning team, who made a virtual £50,300 from their transactions, were: Mohamed Mohamed, Mubariz Mujtaba, Grant Ndinga-Lopo, Hassan Shabaz and Edvinas Skietrys. They brought back a lovely trophy to display in school, plus each of them received a £10 book token and Manchester University sweatshirts.

The runners-up, who also amassed an impressive profit, were: Vanesa Franciscova, Hannah Hughes, Tapha Jobe, Abrar Khan and Suher Sofi.

All the students were a credit to the school and represented Manchester Academy’s finest. Their behaviour was outstanding and all of them gave their very best efforts all day.
