Manchester Academy’s new Principal Andy Griffin and his team welcomed prospective students and their parents when they staged their latest open evening.
Held on Wednesday, 17th September at the Moss Lane East site, the event saw families from across the area greeted by student ambassadors, before being given the opportunity to tour the academy’s state-of-the-art facilities and take part in a variety of exciting activities and demonstrations including the school’s own take on ‘Who wants to be a millionaire,’ jumping frogs, a basketball shoot-out and chocolate maths!
In a special presentation, Mr Griffin also outlined the academy’s commitment to bring out the best in all of its students through an inspiring and aspirational education, built upon high quality teaching and learning across the curriculum, which this year saw student Faiza Mohamud achieve the rare distinction of becoming one of only a handful of students nationally to achieve an A** for Further Mathematics at GCSE.
Said Mr Griffin:
“The open evening was an excellent opportunity for us to show how ambitious we are for all of our students here at the Academy, with this September seeing us welcome our largest ever intake into Year 7, with 210 new students joining the school.”
