This year’s Year 10 Duke of Edinburgh Award candidates had their first experience of the outdoors on our annual trip to Ghyll Head on the edge of Lake Windemere.

 

Last weekend (Friday, 8^th – Sunday, 10^th February) we took our second group of Bronze pupils out to Ghyll Head, and although we weren’t hit by the snow, a fun and rewarding time was had by all.

The second training event of the calendar took place between Friday, 24^th February until Sunday, 26^th February, with the second Duke of Edinburgh group undertaking their training of map reading skills.

 

Braving the weather, 28 Year 10 students had a fabulous time at Ghyll Head from Friday, 3^rd February until Sunday, 5^th February as part of their training for the Bronze Duke of Edinburgh’s Award.

The snow came thick and fast but didn’t stop us from having a lot of fun, from snow ball fights and snowwoman making competitions outside, to alien catching inside!

A new initiative in the Sixth Form this year is the introduction of the Bronze Duke of Edinburgh’s Award.

Students have started their year with a trip to Ghyll Head OEC, where they relished learning map reading skills and enjoying the beautiful Lake District countryside.
