This new exhibition will be celebrating contemporary work from African artists, and the Manchester Academy students have been inspired by their work to create their own products.
The students have developed their ideas and have printed fabrics with lecturers from The University of Manchester to make iPhone bags and laptop cases, with a contemporary take on African designs. The students have also interviewed artists in residence as well as coming up with their own logo.
The exhibition across 4 venues in Manchester (including the Whitworth Art Gallery) opens on Friday, 01st June and runs until Sunday, 16th September, 2012 so there’s plenty of time to see all the artists, writers, musicians, poets, academics, activists, thinkers and chefs amongst the plethora of talent participating in the We Face Forward project.
