Whitworth Art Gallery – Fresh Made Trade

Published on 14 November 2012

After a successful first year of collaboration with the Whitworth Art Gallery, a new group of entrepreneurs have taken up the baton of ‘Fresh Made Trade’ and have begun their challenge to create a product for the shop at the Gallery and Art Museum.

Students from last year’s group attended the launch of the ‘We Face Forward’ exhibition at the beginning of June, having an opportunity to meet the artists, revel in the atmosphere, and finally see the exhibits they had been eagerly anticipating.

The new group have already begun their preparations by interviewing Michael Whitworth, in charge of the retail shop business across the Art Galleries, seeking his expert advice on product placement.

They also had an opportunity to reflect on David Hockney’s 'A Rake’s Progress' exhibition which inspired them to create images using different printing techniques, guided by local artist and textile maker, Seleena Daye.
