The project was a collaboration between schools in Manchester and the Royal Exchange Theatre, which involved pupils designing bunting for a wedding scene in the then upcoming play Rats’ Tales by Carol Ann Duffy.
This was an excellent opportunity for pupils to be involved in an aspect of theatre design and to have work in a play by poet laureate Carol Ann Duffy. We had 30 pieces of bunting to design for the play by Monday, 19th November, 2012.
Fellow teachers were invited to encourage any pupils who they felt had a particular interest in theatre, storytelling, theatre design or any extracurricular Art projects to contact me.
After examining a little over 300 entries, the set designer Anna chose bunting from the two Manchester Academy pupils, Shakaine Hall & Kiro Underwood. Many congratulations to them and all the other pupils involved in this fantastic project.
