Working Together

Published on 28 June 2013

Manchester Metropolitan University (MMU) and Manchester Academy have worked with Webster Primary School on a long term Transition project.

MMU mentors coached Year 7 students and helped them to prepare and deliver a day entitled ‘Everything You Wanted to Know about Secondary School’ to the Webster students.

The students then worked together to produce a presentation entitled ‘Our Moss Side – The Future’. This included drama, a manifesto, a newspaper from the future and an employment map of Moss Side where students matched their skills and interests to businesses in the area. The students also took part in an employability day on campus and received certificates.

New and established projects are already being planned for the next academic year. The university is supporting our curriculum, raising awareness of academic courses and career pathways and ensuring that our students have no fear of thinking about applying for university.
