World Book Day 2010

Published on 08 March 2010

On Thursday March 4th Manchester Academy celebrated World Book Day.

Children’s author and lecturer, Sherry Ashworth, came in to school to work with our own budding authors in a creative writing workshop. She was very impressed with their fresh and imaginative ideas and we all look forward to reading more of their work in the future.

Students from the University of Manchester also came in to read with our year 7 pupils, while sixth formers from Manchester Grammar School read with boys in year 7, 8, 9 and 10.

Here at Manchester Academy we encourage all of our pupils to read at every opportunity and consequently these reading sessions will continue to run throughout the rest of the year. In fact, as of next week, the Academy will launch a further reading project with Manchester Metropolitan University.
