Year 10 and Year 11 Netball Teams Defeat MCMA

What a fantastic start to the season. Creative passing and expert shooting allowed Manchester Academy to win their first netball fixture of the season.

Excellent passes from Alex Witek at Centre to a very accurate Mashal Hassan at Goal Shooter in the first half was exceptional, Mashal’s accuracy gave Manchester Academy a 5-0 start.

This was continued in the second half with Kowther Salim stepping in at Goal Shooting and securing 2 goals to add to the score. Hibaq Nur (Captain) at Goal Defence with Yasmin Jama at Goal Keeper proved to be an unstoppable defence partnership.  

Coming on at half time was Sarah Nur at Goal Keeper, this was her first ever Netball match representing the Academy and she started of her Netball season with incredible form. Impressive attacking skills where shown by Dina Ibrahim in the first half of the game at Wing Attack. Tirveni Cournadin played an exceptional game at Wing Attack and Goal Attack, demonstrating her strong attacking play. Zahra Sharif at Wing Defence played very well making her partner struggle to get the ball throughout the entire game.

Year 10 Year 11 Netball Squads

This was an incredible game to start the netball season. Effortless play and slick moves up court where shown by the very talented Naomi Adigun (Captain) at Goal Attack accompanied by Najma Mohammed at Centre and Leah Gilham-Mcauley at Goal Shooter.

Hanan Abdallah set up critical positional play allowing a fast and precise ball to be delivered into the shooting circle. Zahra Omar at Goal Keeper showed off her amazing defensive skills in what was her first game representing the Academy at netball.

Hani Mohamed had an amazing game at Goal Defence, she stepped up to the mark playing in the year group above her, she was a critical player in securing the win over MCMA. Radwa Ali and Farah Maasher both were playing one half at Wing Defence and also showed confidence playing for a year group above them and contributed greatly to the game.

Let’s continue this winning form in the next match after half term.
