Thanks to a brilliant collaboration with Henry Brothers Construction Ltd, a select group of Year 11 students had the opportunity to participate in a site visit to the University of Manchester Chemistry Building. The trip was designed to provide a hands-on experience and explore various construction-related skills as part of our Year 11, Post-16 Pathway.
The visit introduced students to the practical aspects of construction and allowed them to witness it’s application in a real-world setting. They met professionals in the field and gained insights into the latest construction projects. One student said: “It was amazing to go up onto the roof, because you always think a roof is flat and empty, you would never know how much goes on top to make a whole building work properly.”
Many of our students left the site visit feeling inspired and motivated to consider the construction industry as a potential career path. When asked about his experience on the trip, another Year 11 student said: “Looking at the electrical and mechanical plant made me realise how complex a building is and how much there is to learn about various trades. I really enjoyed it!”
Our Post 16 & Aspirations Officer, Mrs Talai said “It’s beyond exciting to witness our Year 11 students take initiative to shape their future. A huge thank you to Henry Brothers Construction Ltd for their generous support!"
