Year 8 Somali Food Event

Published on 25 April 2012

As part of the Whitworth Art Gallery project and exhibition, ‘We Face Forward' students have been working with artists and manufacturers to create, make and sell goods in the Whitworth shop.

To help celebrate this project, the Food Technology department ran a Somali event. Year 8 students carried out research into traditional spices and ingredients and cooked a range of dishes from Somalia, including, chicken pilaf, lamb samosas and vegetable pakoras. They invited guests to dine in their cafe.

A wonderful event enjoyed by all, the Year 8's worked extremely hard and produced some outstanding dishes. Well done!
