Year 9 Netball Team Begins Season Against The King David High School

Published on 24 October 2014

A tough game to start the season with, the Year 9 netball team fought to the very end against some strong competition.

Excellent attacking play in the first half from Emma Beresford Yates at Centre and Nasra Jeylani at Goal Attack made it very difficult for King David’s defence to intercept their accurate and fast passes. Good support was offered around the circle edge from Fatima Jeylani at Wing Attack.

Back in defence we saw some outstanding marking and interceptions from Alycha Henry at Goal Keeper and Aimen Asif at Goal Defence. Hadyah Hashiem at Wing Defence put lots of pressure on her player who struggled to get the ball.

Amal Mohamed showed some excellent positional play at Goal Shooter, holding space and making good dodges to receive the ball in the shooting circle. Together with Nasra they made some very good shots but were very unlucky with numerous near misses.

Coming on at half time was Dania Ibrahim who hassled her player until the very end at Wing Defence, and Sadiya Mohamed who played a strong game at Goal Keeper.

A valiant effort from all players and despite the loss, a positive start to the season having demonstrated fantastic potential for future games. Well done girls.

  • Player of the Match: Alycha Henry
