Making Manchester Magic with Multiple Award Nominations

Proudly Announcing: Manchester Academy Has Been Nominated for Not One But TWO National TES Awards

Thanks to the hard work of our Magic staff, Manchester Academy has been nominated for two TES School Awards. Best use of Technology and Subject Lead of the Year.

The TES School Awards are an inclusive event that brings schools together to celebrate excellence across the whole education sector. They’re a fantastic way to celebrate individual and school achievements with the education community.

Best Use of Technology

At Manchester Academy, the use of technology is harnessed to its full potential and is a key aspect of ensuring every student receives the highest quality of education. We effectively use technology to work smarter, not harder, reducing the workload of our staff so they can prioritise student learning.

Students leave Manchester Academy equipped to face the technological world with confidence! Most importantly, they know how to stay safe online thanks to our excellent personal development curriculum.

We acknowledge that students may not have access to technology at home. Therefore, we issued over 500 laptops for students to continue their learning during the pandemic. Manchester Academy was one of the first schools in Manchester to deliver an online timetable during the pandemic.

We’ve been proudly recognised for this by our trust and Manchester City Council.

Subject Lead of the Year

It’s with great pride that we announce our Curriculum Lead for Science, Mrs Evans, has been nominated for the Subject Lead of the Year Award. Mrs Evans has been part of our magic team since July 2016, her passion and brilliant work ethic has inspired many of our students and staff.

Science Teacher, Mr Spencer said: “Never have I worked with someone who has such consistent enthusiasm for science and broadening the scientific horizons of young people. Katie has championed the science education of girls in Moss Side, using herself as a role model to ignite the passion for science amongst young women. Her drive to bridge the gap in educational inequality is inspirational. I hope she continues to work at Manchester Academy and add to the countless grades she has helped our students achieve.”

Former Academy Student, Mrs Abhari said: “When I was told Mrs Evans had been nominated for the Teacher of the Year Award, I could not stop smiling. Mrs Evans is the type of teacher who allows people to see the potential in themselves, she understands the power of connecting with us on a human and personal level. I appreciate the passion she has. Not just to teach and see progress, but also her personal passion for the subject. Now, I’m doing an Integrated Master of Chemistry at The University of Manchester. I want to personally thank Mrs Evans; she has and continues to be a source of motivation.”

Fingers Crossed

The TES School Awards Ceremony will take place on the 21st of June 2024, in London.

We are hoping to be crowned best in the country and show everyone how we are Making Manchester Magic each day. A big thank you and good luck to everyone who entered.
