The Academy Welcomes Disruption in an Unapologetically Loud and Vibrant Celebration of Culture and Heritage
Culture Day is an annual event at Manchester Academy where staff and students are invited to wear traditional dress from a country of their choice. The day is packed full of music, food, and fun! Everyone is welcome to celebrate, with special prises for our best dressed students.
The Day’s Events
Our brilliant team have worked hard to ensure this year’s Culture Day is as vibrant and unique as the school it takes place in. Here’s what happened:
- · Indian Band & Staff Samba Band played music as students arrived
- · Cultural Stalls, including henna art, a retro sweet shop, and photo booth
- · Friday Prayer led by the local Imam
- · Cultural Fashion Show and Manchester Academy Disco
Principal Mr. Eldon said: “It’s well known that Manchester Academy is a diverse school and it’s brilliant to see this reflected in each of our staff and students. The sounds and colours are wonderful, it’s a real celebration for everyone involved.”
Highlight Of the Day
The highlight of the day was the Flash Mob Dance, where staff surprised our students during their lunch period with a Greek dance performance.
Deputy Head Teacher and Lead Dancer Mrs McMillen said: “The day has been a huge success. Admittedly, I was a little nervous about the surprise performance, but the students loved it! I know our students, and myself included, have looked forward to this day all year!”
Making Manchester Magic
Manchester Academy’s Culture Day is linked to Rights Respecting Schools!
School events, like our exciting Culture Day, help to raise money for UNICEF Charities, alongside our Academy Charities. Our staff and students have fun for a good cause, supporting Cancer Research and Alzheimer’s.
Each day we strive to Make Manchester Magic.
