A Testament to the Hard Work and Talent of Students and Staff
Third Place in the Country
With the right support, encouragement, and opportunity, Manchester Academy students can compete with the very best. This belief was proven right when the brilliant debate team achieved third place nationally in the Urban Debate Legue 2025.
Students competed against 51 United Learning schools from across the country! Marking Manchester Academy as one of the highest-ranked mixed-gender secondary school in Manchester.
Hard Work and Talent
Students worked incredibly hard to reach this achievement, showing confidence, critical thinking, and teamwork in every debate. From tackling complex global issues to defending their arguments under pressure, they proved that Manchester Academy students can hold their own against any school in the country.
Principal James Eldon praised the team’s success, saying: “What an achievement and great to underline what our students are capable of. Huge thanks to Mr. Verity and Mr. Glasby for leading our brilliant team so successfully.”
Building Confident and Future-Ready Students
At Manchester Academy, we are committed to helping our students grow into confident, well-rounded young adults. Debating is just one of the many ways we prepare them for life beyond school, teaching valuable skills such as public speaking, problem-solving, and teamwork.
We are incredibly proud of our students and can’t wait to see what they achieve next!
