Year 9 Students Explore Art as a Tool for Social Change
At Manchester Academy, we’re always looking for new and exciting ways to inspire our students. That’s why we are thrilled to be working with The Whitworth Art Gallery and The Mildred Fund to give our Year 9 students the opportunity to explore art as a tool for social change!
Through a series of visits to The Whitworth, students have been debating, designing, and discovering how creativity can spark conversations and make a real difference in society.
AI in Art: A Controversial Topic
On their most recent visit, students tackled the hot topic of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in art. They explored how AI is shaping the future of creativity and shared their own opinions on its impact. Some students were amazed by how AI can generate stunning artwork, while others debated whether it takes away from the human touch of traditional art.
To put their ideas into action, students had a blast designing their own AI-generated art galleries, imagining the perfect exhibition space filled with innovative digital artwork.
A Unique Opportunity with Artist Mishka Henner
The excitement doesn’t stop there! In the Summer term, our young artists will have the chance to work alongside renowned artist Mishka Henner. Henner will guide them through the creative process, helping them develop their own artistic skills and produce original pieces.
A Grand Exhibition at The Whitworth
All this incredible work will culminate in a special exhibition at The Whitworth at the end of the year. This will be a fantastic opportunity for students to showcase their talent and creativity to the public.
At Manchester Academy, we are proud to support our students by making learning engaging, relevant, and fun. We can’t wait to see their final pieces on display!
